EnsureU — User Guide
What the platform does, from the point of view of the people using it.
Part 1 is the student journey. Part 2 is the reference for every student-facing feature. Part 3 covers the admin screens, which are used by staff rather than learners but are just as much a user interface.
Routes are given as they appear in the browser, e.g. /home/study-plan.
Some features are behind feature flags an administrator controls (Admin → Config). Where that is the case it is called out, because "the menu item isn't there" is usually a flag rather than a fault.
Part 1 — The student journey
1. Creating an account
Register (/register) asks for first and last name, email address, a
10-digit mobile number, and a password. Your mobile number is your username —
that is what you sign in with. You also pick the exams you are preparing for;
this is what decides which content the app shows you afterwards.
You can instead sign in with Google (/login), if the deployment has a
Google client configured. A Google account never has a password, so the
password-reset flow does not apply to it — the app says so rather than sending a
code that could not work.
2. Verifying your number
New accounts get a 6-digit OTP, valid for 15 minutes. It is sent to your
mobile by SMS and to your email address — whichever arrives first is fine, it is
the same code. Enter it on the verification screen (/verify-account) to
activate the account.
If it does not arrive, use Resend. The code is never shown on screen and never returned by the app: it exists only in the message, which is the point of it.
Signing in to an unverified account sends a fresh code and takes you straight to the verification dialog, so a half-finished registration is never a dead end.
3. Choosing your exams
Onboarding (/onboarding) asks which exams you are preparing for — SSC,
Bank, IIT-JEE, and whichever categories the deployment has enabled. This sets the
context for everything else: papers, practice sets, quizzes and study material
are all filtered to the categories you chose. You can change this later from your
profile.
4. Getting access to papers
Content comes in two forms:
- Free — available as soon as you have an account.
- Paid subscriptions — bundles of mock papers, previous-year papers and quizzes for a category, sold for a fixed period: 1 day, 1 month, 3 months, 6 months or 12 months.
Browse them at /home/subscription. When online payment is switched on, buying
opens a Razorpay checkout window; your subscription activates once the payment is
confirmed, and the papers appear immediately. Closing the payment window without
paying changes nothing.
If a payment goes through but the app does not update — a lost connection at the
wrong moment — check My Subscriptions (/home/my-content) a minute later
before paying again. Confirmed payments are reconciled automatically.
How long a plan lasts. A plan runs for calendar months from the day you buy it: a three-month plan bought on 5 October ends on 5 January. Your own end date is shown on the plan wherever it appears.
One plan at a time. While your plan is active, it stays on the page with an Active until date and a Start tests link in place of the buy button — it cannot be bought a second time. If you try anyway (an old tab, a second device), you are told "You already have this plan until …" and nothing is charged.
When a plan ends. If the plan is still on sale, it shows Renew. Renewing starts a new period from that day and gives you every paper you have not attempted yet, plus anything added to the bundle since. Papers you already finished stay as Completed: you can review them, but not retake them. If the plan is no longer on sale, it shows as ended without a Renew button; newer plans are listed for purchase.
What you keep after a plan ends. Results, analysis and answer review of every test you finished stay available for good. Where access control is switched on, tests from that plan can no longer be started or resumed until you renew: the test shows "Your plan ended on …" with a Renew link. A test left half-done is not lost; it resumes where you stopped once the plan is active again. If your plan ends while you are in the middle of a test, you can still finish and submit it.
If a payment is taken but the plan cannot be activated, the app says so rather than showing success. You are not charged again, and the payment is flagged for the team to put right.
5. Taking a paper
From the home dashboard (/home), open a paper and read the instruction
screen (/instruction) — it explains how the question palette works, including
what "marked for review" means, before you start the clock.
Inside a paper (/exam/[examId]):
- Sections with their own time allowances, and a paper-level timer
- A question palette showing what you have answered, skipped or marked
- Hindi/English toggle where the paper is bilingual
- Font size controls for comfortable reading
- Answers save as you go — a brief "Progress saved" confirms it; a dropped connection or a closed tab does not lose your work
- Auto-submit when time runs out, with a warning if you try to leave early
6. Seeing how you did
Results analysis (/home/results-analysis/[paperId]) gives section-wise
performance and a question-by-question palette: what you got right, what you got
wrong, and how long you spent on each question.
Progress (/progress) is the longer view across attempts — completed tests,
month-by-month summaries, and persistent weak areas: topics you keep losing
marks on, rather than a single bad day.
Part 2 — Feature reference (students)
Home dashboard — /home
Your starting point. Shows papers available in your chosen categories, tests you have completed, tests you missed, and previous-year papers — each as its own section, so you can pick up where you left off.
Practice — /practice
Section-wise practice by category (/practice/[category]). Practice questions
are for drilling a topic rather than simulating an exam, so there is no paper
timer.
Quizzes — /quiz
Short quizzes on a daily, weekly and monthly cadence. Completed quizzes stay
available for review at /quiz/[quizId], where you can go back over the answers.
Previous-year papers — /previous-papers
Real papers from earlier years, grouped by category with counts, attempted the same way as any other paper. Useful for gauging the real difficulty and pattern.
Papers to download as PDFs
Where the team has published them, previous-year papers are also offered as PDF files with their solutions. They are listed under Previous Year Papers on the first page of the site and on your home dashboard, one tab per exam, newest year first. Press Download PDF to save a paper. Some papers ask you to sign in first; the button then reads Sign in to download. Each page of a PDF carries the EnsureU name.
Study courses — /study
Structured courses (/study/[slug]) — organised study material rather than
question practice.
Knowledge base — /knowledge
Searchable reference material: a subject tree, formula collections, and full-text search across the knowledge base. Search is powered by the AI service, so it matches on meaning rather than exact wording.
Revision notes — /knowledge/notes
Readable subject notes (/knowledge/notes/[subject]) — a book-style reader for
revision rather than practice.
Discussions — /discussions
Ask questions and discuss problems, with AI assistance; a thread can be linked to a specific question so the context travels with it. This is behind a feature flag — if it shows "Feature Not Available", an administrator has it turned off.
Saved questions — /home/saved-questions
Questions you bookmarked while attempting a paper, collected in one place for revision.
Study plan — /home/study-plan
A personalised, week-by-week plan built around your target exam date and your current level.
My subscriptions — /home/my-content
Everything you currently have access to, with validity dates. Also where a just-completed purchase shows up. The dates are your own plan's start and end, not the dates the bundle is on sale. A plan that has ended stays listed, so you can see when it ended and buy it again.
Profile — /profile
Your personal information and preferred exams. Changing your exams changes what the rest of the app shows you.
Email notifications — turn "Quiz updates" off to stop emails about new quizzes and reminders before a quiz closes, and "Announcements and offers" off to stop news about new bundles, offers and features. Login codes and account emails are always sent.
Blog — /blog
Articles and exam news (/blog/[slug]), browsable by category.

Deleting your account
Request deletion from /account-deletion. The account enters a 30-day grace
period: you can cancel any time within it and nothing is lost. After the grace
period the account and its personal data are removed.
Purchase and subscription records are kept even then — tax rules require them, and they are what proves a payment happened.
Getting help
- Something missing from the menu is usually a feature flag (Admin → Config) rather than a bug.
- Paid content not appearing after payment: check My Subscriptions
(
/home/my-content) — confirmed payments reconcile on their own. - "You already have this plan until …" when buying: the plan is still active on your account. It can be bought again after that date.
- "Your plan ended on …" when opening a test: the plan that included it has ended. Finished tests still open from Completed; buy the plan again to start or resume the rest.
- Staff — a payment marked not granted on Admin → Payments was charged but did not produce a plan (or its activation never finished). It is not retried automatically; resolve it from that screen.
- Staff — whether an ended plan locks its tests is set per deployment in the
server's
.env:ENTITLEMENT_ENFORCEMENT_PAPER_ENABLED,ENTITLEMENT_ENFORCEMENT_PASTPAPER_ENABLEDandENTITLEMENT_ENFORCEMENT_QUIZ_ENABLED. All three are off unless set totrue; the backend must be restarted to pick up a change. - OTP not arriving: it goes to both your mobile and your email; check both before resending.
